PREAMBLE
In the developing world, particularly African, numerous children, young people and women live in exceptionally difficult conditions. Parents are at crossroads and the larger communities have no remedy for the teeming population of the less privilege and physically challenged in the society. They form the visible but silent groups of vulnerable people in our midst. There is increase number of orphans as a result of death from poverty and HIV/ADS.
These category of children, youths and women do odd jobs, hawk at high-traffic locations and hang around rough environments. The young girls are employed as housemaids and are often subjected to inhuman treatments and involved in immoral acts. transportband, Quite a good number have been sexually exploited while some are continually smuggled overseas into prostitution. Young people, boys and girls alike are available targets of drug traffickers.
Many children have been abandoned by indigent parents or caregivers who cannot take care of them while others are ostracized for religious reasons or for exercising their fundamental human rights. Some physically challenged people are vulnerable to life problems and HIV.
The consequence of all these is for them to find solace at odd places and this makes them vulnerable to HIV and sexually transmitted infections (STIs). A segment of our young people aged between 13 and 24 years have dropped out of school for lack of direction, basic protection and relevant information to lead a meaningful life.
The Isaiah 58 House Organization (Isaiah 58 House) an NGO has been conceived to give succor to this class of under-privileged and downtrodden children, young people, physically challenged and women with identifiable potentials for growth, and people living with HIV/AIDS.
The Isaiah 58 House philosophy is that every person should be fully brought up in the spirit of peace, dignity, tolerance, freedom, equality, solidarity and the fear of God… to live a satisfying life in the society. There should be full and harmonious development for every individual while growing up in a family environment and in school. The society should provide an atmosphere of happiness, love, understanding and hope for the future of all.
Isaiah 58 House Organization supports the economic reforms at various levels of governance in Nigeria as encapsulated in the National Economic Empowerment Development Strategy (NEEDS), State Economic Empowerment Development Strategy (SEEDS) and Local Economic Empowerment Development Strategy (LEEDS) documents, in its efforts to achieve the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) inherent in:
- Poverty Alleviation
- Health Issues (HIV/AIDS, etc;)
- Universal Basic Education
- Gender Balance and
- Global Partnerships
Isaiah 58 House programmes are made up of in depth, transformational and practical experiences that turn formally depressed youth, women, physically challenged, people living with AIDS and children to forward-thinking, action-oriented, self-reliant and productive citizens within a given time frame.
